Training is contextualised for your MCWP model, installation type, installation location, attachments where fitted,  and, any particular site conditions.

Delivery on site, practical element delivery is weather dependant, MCWP installation must be engineer approved. 

Half day nominal - min 5 candidates,  max 12 candidates

This course has been designed in consultation with Safety regulators, industry, Government & Trade Unions and is applicable to all personnel who are required to operate, work from or use Mast Climbing Work Platforms for a range of workplace tasks at on site,  or for those required to supervise or manage those people. 

This course addresses planning, load management, communication, risk management of known hazards including drop objects, human behavioural skills, routine safety & operational checks, unpowered descent, and breakdown or emergency response using MCWP’s and associated equipment.

Ancillary attachments for MCWP may be included as required.

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 4 Hours

White card for applicable State or Territory

Current First aid training - recommended

Current Work safely at heights training - recommended

Approved hard hat / helmet lanyard or harness system

Safety glasses with lanyard

Gloves

Hi vis shirt , long pants 

Safety boots or shoes

Physical fitness to allow access to and from MCWP

Basic metric numeracy to identify load plans and assess weights of tools , equipment and items/debris removed from building or structure

Course is delivered in written and spoken English.

Please enquire if language (ESL) may present a barrier to course completion, registered translators may be engaged if required.

This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 60 months

Practical

Orientation to MCWP model at site: care, use and maintenance

Orientation to First aid kit

Orientation to use of Fire extinguisher

Conduct prestart checks

Use of remote communications equipment as applicable to site 

eg mobile phone, two way radio, nurse call, airhorns

Use written reports to advise of MCWP defects or anomalies

Communicate clearly with other operators in MCWP  

Demonstrate use of drop object controls

Operate winch controls as MCWP operator / driver "MCWP captain"

Respond to breakdown / emergency scenarios

Undertake an unpowered descent

Conduct shut down procedures including security of access

Complete reports
