This Mulgoa Quarries half day course provides practical training in the safe recovery and towing of disabled heavy vehicles. Participants learn how to assess the recovery site, prepare both the recovery vehicle and the disabled vehicle, select and inspect suitable recovery equipment, and carry out the recovery operation safely.
The course also covers relevant legislation, safety procedures, and risk controls, with a strong focus on the correct use of specialised recovery equipment, including synthetic recovery straps, soft slings, and shackles.
In this course,
- Participants will learn about relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards related to heavy vehicle recovery and towing.
- This includes identifying the work requirements, assessing the recovery site, and planning the recovery strategy.
- Participants learn how to prepare the recovery vehicle and the disabled vehicle for the recovery operation. This includes understanding the capabilities and limitations of different types of recovery equipment.
- The course covers the safe and efficient use of towing equipment, including proper rigging techniques and load management.
- Emphasis is placed on safety throughout the entire recovery process, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), risk assessment, exclusion zones, dampeners and emergency procedures.
