Falls from roofs are a major cause of death and serious injury in the Australian construction and maintenance sectors. Under Safe Work Australia guidelines and state bodies like SafeWork NSW, work at heights over 2 metres requires strict risk management, safe work method statements (SWMS), and robust physical or personal fall prevention controls

When a worker falls from a roof, every second counts. Relying solely on emergency services is often too slow to prevent serious injury or suspension trauma.
This practical, 4-hour course moves your team out of the classroom and onto the tools, delivering the hands-on skills required to safely access rooftops and execute a rapid teammate rescue.
Designed for tradespeople, solar installers, maintenance workers, and site supervisors, this high-utility workshop focuses on simple, industry tested safety techniques that save prevent injury and save lives.
Course Objectives
By the end of this intensive session, participants will be able to:
  • Master Ladder & Access Safety: Correctly pitch, tie off, and transition from a ladder onto a roof using the 4:1 rule and first-man-up systems.
  • Manage Lines & Anchors: Confidently identify rated structural anchors (15kN) and safely deploy temporary static lines or anchors to maintain 100% fall protection.
  • Inspect Personal Gear: Spot defects and incorrect fitting harnesses and lanyards during rapid buddy-checks.
  • Execute Rapid Recovery: Set up a pre-rigged, no-descend rescue kit to safely raise or lower a suspended teammate from a safe edge position.
  • Prevent Suspension Trauma: Apply current best practice post-rescue management to protect a casualty until advanced medical help arrives.
Key Benefits for Your Business
  • Immediate On-Site Capability: Your workers gain the confidence and skills to act instantly during an emergency, eliminating deadly delays.
  • Zero-Gaps Fall Protection: Teaches practical techniques to ensure workers are fully secured from the moment they leave the ground to when the job is done.
  • No-Descend Rescue Methods: Focuses on remote-reach pre rigged rescue kits, meaning your team can safely recover a teammate without placing themselves in danger.
  • WHS & Legal Compliance: Helps satisfy your strict legal obligation to provide a functional, practiced emergency response plan for high-risk heights work.
